Memories at Kerr Lake

Deep down in the woods off of Kerr Lake is a log cabin where I grew up with so many memories. A place where there is no wifi or TV so “family time” is a real thing at the lake house. Some of my favorite times with my siblings and cousins was at my Aunt and Uncle’s lake house over the summers.
We would go tubing, skiing, wakeboarding and riding on the jet ski. It was always a competition to see which cousin could stay on the tube the longest. Kerr Lake is where I caught my first fish, wakeboarded, skied and knee boarded for the first time.
When I was younger, our whole family would always travel to Kerr Lake for 4th of July. We always took the boat out to the center of the lake where the town would shoot off incredible fireworks. Then we would come back to the lake house and have our own firework show and my boy cousins would always do crazy and very unsafe tricks with the fireworks.
My uncle loved catching catfish and frying it up for dinner even though I wasn’t too fond of the taste, it was always so exciting when we’d catch a huge catch fish. In general, just riding the boat around on the lake will always be some of the most relaxing times for me. It was a tradition that when we needed gas in the boat, all of the cousins would pile into the boat because we knew a cold ice cream would be waiting for us at the Marina.
One of my favorite memories of all time was when we created our own makeshift “wipeout” on the lake. Wipeout at the time was one of our favorite tv shows so we wanted to create our own. So we anchored down about 6 different tubes that we all tied together out in the lake. We would have to start on the big platform on the dock, jump off and try to do the course in the fastest amount of time. The videos we have from that day are priceless.
The lake house at Kerr Lake is such a special place for me. It is a place where I share so many fun memories with my family and a place where we will continue to make more memories.
