A man’s best friend. Cooper, my dog, is my best friend. Dogs have the power to turn someone’s day upside down for the better. No one else can provide unconditional love like a dog does. Dogs give humans a sense of emotional support and constant cuddles that make humans feel less alone.

Research has shown that having or spending time with a dog does great things for your wellbeing. A national survey of pet owners and non-pet owners by the Human Animal Bond Research Institute found that 85% of respondents believe that having a pet reduces loneliness. Another study, found that owning a dog can help you live longer. Research between 1950 and 2019 revealed that dog owners have lower blood pressure levels and improved responses to stress.

Dogs also bring another social factor into your life. One of my friends that has a dog said that he’s now starting to get to know all the dog owners in the area from the walks he goes on. From going to the dog park to going out to eat. If you have a dog with you, it’s an easier way to get a conversation started between two people. I know at He’s Not, you’re one of the most popular people at the bar if you have a cute pup by your side.

My own dog, Cooper, brings so much joy to our family. He’s always a little ball of energy and when I come home to visit his excitement is too much to contain. Even if you walk out the door for 15 minutes and you walk back inside he is just as excited to see you. Dogs become part of the family and our family wouldn’t be complete without Cooper.
